Two directors of Amusement Park in Uasin Gishu face legal action following the death of five KCPE students during a recreational outing at a man-made dam. The incident occurred during a fun day on Saturday, just before the national exams were scheduled for Monday. Uasin Gishu police commander Benjamin Mwanthi confirmed the arrests, underscoring that investigations are ongoing as the duo awaits arraignment.

The students, part of a group of Standard Six and Standard Eight students accompanied by teachers for recreational activities, experienced a tragic turn when their boat capsized. Tragically, five Standard Eight students drowned, while one Standard Six student survived and was rushed to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital with severe oxygen deficiency.

Education Cabinet Secretary, Ezekiel Machogu, emphasized the collaboration between the Ministry of Education and the Interior Ministry to conduct thorough investigations into the incident. Additionally, Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii visited the affected families, expressing the county government's commitment to supporting them in giving the deceased students a proper send-off.

As the community grapples with the devastating loss, the tragedy has shed light on the critical need for enhanced safety measures and precautions during recreational outings, particularly involving young learners. The incident serves as a sobering reminder of the importance of stringent safety protocols to prevent similar mishaps and protect the well-being of students during extracurricular activities.
